
In case you observe the CTO behaviors below, chances are high it’s an inexperienced CTO
- does not explain the problem to solve
- does not explain the why
- micro management – example: insists for their write up approval but never provide approvals
- top down decisions that will held against people in their performance review
- acts as project manager with junior level project management experience
- cuts open positions without explanation
- asks for pre-read slide decks and performs changes neither with alignment nor notification
- expects implementation of given solution approach without explanation
- does not utilize their workforce intelligence
- when asked – insist to deliver first and eventually don’t answer the actual question
- not able to work async – always requires meetings – does asks for meeting neither with agenda nor with context
- no regular one-to-ones – no skip level one to ones
- creates “expert” groups but ignores subject matter experts
- review documents are available for specific people only instead of focus on group reviews
- not able to define KPIs to measure success
- despite an exciting performance review framework, employee performance evaluation with an in transparent approach
- people don’t have time to join hackathons
